Program

The program features 6 tutorials. Each tutorial has a length of 4 hours (1 h = 45 minutes), but this time is broken down into several lectures that are scheduled on 2--3 different days of the week. In this manner, there are several speakers each day, and all topics are introduced in the first half of the week for the sake of starting conversions on those topics.

In the interest of exchange between junior and senior scientists, the program will feature an extensive social program and extra opportunities for conversation. The program will start on Sunday with a reception. There will be a round of introductions on Monday. There will be joint lunches and dinners throughout the week, and plenty of space for discussion in morning and afternoon breaks. There is also a student workshop.

A detailed schedule can be found below. Participants should arrive on Sunday afternoon (26 Sep) so that they can participate in the reception, and they are encouraged to stay until Saturday (2 Oct) so that they can participate in the lecturing program and all discussions in full. The official schedule ends with a lunch on Friday (1 Oct).

Reception

On Sunday evening (26 Sep, 8pm), we will begin the school with a reception at the bistro Kaffeewirtschaft at the Münzplatz at the city center. (From train station / B&B Hotel it is a 20 man walk, mostly from the beginning till the end of the pedestrian area. The reception is included in the registration fee.

Round of Introductions

On Monday, at the best afternoon coffee time, all participants (i.e., students, speakers, organizers) relocate from the lecture hall to a more convenient place for a round of introductions. We will get to know each other: names, places, interests, expectations. If you feel like you might be giving a presentation at the students workshop, please say so.

Wine Tasting

On Tuesday, the organizers would like to familiarize you with local customs. Those who are interested will participate in a Wine Tasting. You will see the vineyards whose wine you are tasting. One option is that we are all moving around on a covered waggon. Alternative drinks are provided. The tasting is included in the registration fee.

Guided Tour

This is not a formal tour of any kind, but some of the organizers will take you to the old center of Koblenz. Because of the upcoming Bundesgartenschau (German Federal Garden Show), Koblenz is a bit of a labyrinth with many blocked streets and construction places allover, but you can be sure to get to see wonderful places, old buildings, bridges, plenty of tourists, pubs, etc. The famous German Corner shall be on our tour of course. We may split into groups at some point to have dinner in the city. On that evening, dinner expenses are to be paid from your own wallet.

The video mentioned during the tour can be found here.

Dinner

The dinner on Thursday is included in the registration fee.
