Information about the Modulprüfung for Module 6 for all students doing the Bachelor of Education degree with English as a subject

The Module 6 Modulprüfung is a written one [schriftliche Prüfung in Form einer Klausur oder einer Hausarbeit oder eines Portfolios nach § 13 (1), (2), (3)]. You're elegible to take the Module 6 Modulprüfung once you've attended two of the three courses in Module 6: either M6.1 and/or M6.2 and/or M6.3.

Each written module exam requires one examiner. The following details are for those students who choose me as your examiner. If you choose another examiner for your Module 6 module exam, then please contact him or her for further information.

For all students who take part in the course in groups and choose me as their module examiner: The grade you received in the M6.1 course according to my grading system is the basis for the grade of your written module portfolio exam. Exceptionally thorough and thoughtful portfolios with few mistakes in English can improve your course grade; if you do not complete the portfolio tasks, your grade can be substantially lowered. Incomplete portfolios or portfolios that include little more than copies and little or no explicit reflection on what you've learned run the risk of a grade 5 = nicht ausreichend.

All portfolios must include a clear table of contents and an introductory section with a description of the most important aspects of content, of teaching techniques, and of language that you learned in the courses you've attended in Module 6 as well as any suggestions for improving the courses for future students. Successful portfolios will also include the following material organized and integrated clearly:
  • excerpts of your written work and evaluations completed during the Anglo-American Cultural Studies course including hard copies of your warm-up handout with my corrections and notes and your topics research paper with my corrections and notes
  • excerpts of my evaluations and your fellow students' reviews of your lesson and research paper
  • excerpts of your group's reviews on other student work in the course including my OLAT notes on the quality of your submissions
  • excerpts of your personal contributions via OLAT
  • any other documentation that you think illustrates what you've learned in the entire module, including any work from the other M6 seminar you attended.
Please do NOT include revised versions of your written work without indicating clearly which mistakes you've corrected and why. I've already spent a lot of time correcting in great detail and grading your original papers. I am very interested in seeing proof of your ability to correct your mistakes but won't read and correct revised versions unless you mark ALL changes clearly marked and explain ALL changes explicitly. Please always remember to indicate clearly your own personal contributions when you submit group work assignments.

You can take the module exams a full semester or later after you've passed the courses although generally students are supposed to take their module exams in the same semester after having passing all the module courses (§11 (4): Die Anmeldung [zur Modulprüfung] soll in der Regel in dem Semester erfolgen, in dem die letzte Studienleistung des jeweiligen Moduls erbracht wird.) If you decide to submit your Module 6 written exam portfolio to me after the deadline given in KLIPS, then please do NOT register in KLIPS for the Module 6 exam but wait until KLIPS registration opens for the following semester. The sooner you submit your portfolio to me, the sooner the Modulbeaufragte(r) can record your grade in KLIPS.
