Simon Schenk works towards his PhD degree under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Steffen Staab.
Before, he has worked as a consultant at Capgemini Germany. He has studied at NORDAKADEMIE University of Applied Sciences, Germany and Karlstads Universitet, Sweden and has received his diploma in Computer Science and Business Management from NORDAKADEMIE in 2004. His diploma thesis about Peer-to-Peer Applications for Knowledge Management was awarded the Innovation Award 2005 by CeBit, Steria Mummert Consulting and Handelsblatt.
Simon works in the EU funded project NeOn – Lifecycle Suport for Networked Ontologies. He was leader of the Semantic Multimedia Workpackage of the K-Space Network of Excellence. His research interests include distributed views and rules for the Semantic Web [1], Semantic Web query languages [2, 3], trust inference [4] and large scale management and retrieval of multimedia metadata [5].
