Abstract

Prof. Dr. York Sure is the President of GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences and Full Professor for Applied Informatics at Universität Koblenz. His previous positions include Senior Researcher at SAP AG and Assistant Professor at Universität Karlsruhe (TH). York has been Visiting Professor at Stanford University and at Universität Mannheim. After graduating in December 1999 in Industrial Engineering he received in May 2003 his PhD in Computer Science, both from Universität Karlsruhe (TH). He has been awarded with the IBM UIMA Innovation Award in 2006 and the Teaching Award from the HECTOR School of Engineering and Management, the Business School of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), in 2010.
York published widely in the areas Semantic Web, Knowledge Management and Internet of Services. Besides being Semantic Web Track Co-Chair of the 19th International World Wide Web Conference (WWW2010) and Programme Chair of the 3rd European Semantic Web Conference (ESWC2006) York co-organized well over 30 scientific events including a Dagstuhl Seminar. He is co-inventor and co-organizer of the German national conference series on Knowledge Management 'Wissensmanagement - Erfahrungen und Visionen` and he is the inventor and co-organizer of the series of international EON workshops on Evaluation of Ontologies and Ontology based Tools.
